Alec Bankhead, DMD, is a North Carolina native who earned his undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from Elon University, where he was a Division I baseball player. He then attended East Carolina School of Dental Medicine where he graduated at the top of his class, with honors. He also received the AAOMS Dental Student Award for excellence in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Education, Training, and Research Contributions
Dr. Bankhead completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, serving as chief resident in his final year. Throughout dental school and residency, he was actively involved in research, earning the American Association of Dental Research Student Award and presenting at both local and national conferences. His academic contributions include multiple publications and textbook chapters.
Clinical Expertise and Professional Affiliations
He is board-eligible and plans to complete his oral board certification in early 2026. Dr. Bankhead practices full-scope Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with advanced training in dentoalveolar surgery, general anesthesia, orthognathic surgery, benign pathology and reconstruction, TMJ disorders, and facial trauma.
Dr. Bankhead has an active dental license in the state of Florida, and is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the American Dental Association. Outside the office, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, staying active, traveling, skiing, diving, golfing, and watching sports.
